# Nkwenkwezi Foundation
## Resource mobilisation & donor stewardship

Strategic discussion paper | Version 1.0 | 29 September 2026
Status: Proposed for review and approval.

### 1. Purpose

Build a diversified and accountable resource base for Nkwenkwezi Foundation. This proposed strategy adapts useful principles from earlier Action Development Agency planning—donor stewardship, relationship management, traceable funds and verified reporting—without carrying over ADA-specific partnerships, payment channels or credentials.

### 2. A focused case for support

Lead with a defined community need, a practical programme response, a costed contribution and the evidence that can be reported. Keep the central message consistent across the website, proposals, presentations and conference materials. Use respectful stories and verified facts rather than inflated reach claims.

### 3. A balanced funding mix

Develop appropriate individual giving, regular EFT support, corporate and CSI partnerships, institutional grants, conference sponsorship and in-kind professional contributions. Consider each opportunity against the Foundation’s purpose, delivery capacity, costs, restrictions and reporting requirements.

### 4. The donor journey

Help a prospective supporter discover the Foundation, verify its identity and purpose, choose an appropriate contribution, receive acknowledgement and understand the agreed reporting. The current website supports information, EFT details and direct contact; it does not claim to operate an automated donor CRM or payment gateway.

### 5. Relationship management

Create a controlled donor and partner register with an accountable relationship owner, consent or other appropriate basis, interests, stage, next action and due date. Keep access proportionate and separate sensitive information from public communication. Plan follow-up realistically and respect contact preferences.

### 6. Campaign and ambassador controls

Use an approved campaign brief, verified payment route, defined budget, realistic target and named owner. If ambassadors or third parties are appointed, verify their roles and give written instructions. Do not activate personal collections, unofficial payment links or unapproved uses of the Foundation’s identity.

### 7. Finance and evidence

Make the finance and fundraising policy the controlling framework. Record restrictions, reconcile contributions, keep supporting evidence and agree reporting dates. Link public stories to the relevant activity and approval record. Keep private participant information out of public donor updates.

### 8. A proposed operating rhythm

Review relationship next steps weekly, reconciliations and donor-care issues monthly, and the funding mix, programme commitments and risks with the governing body at agreed intervals. Use a short action register with owners and dates. Approve service standards only when they can be delivered.

### 9. Launch sequence

First confirm authority, documentation and controls. Then test one modest campaign from enquiry through payment, acknowledgement, reconciliation and reporting. Use the learning to improve the process before expanding public mobilisation.

### 10. Technology that serves trust

A future digital system could support relationship follow-up, activity records, reconciliation and reporting. Start with a documented data-flow map, access roles, provider responsibilities and backup arrangements. Any AI-assisted drafting or analysis should receive human review; do not upload sensitive participant information into unapproved services or automate decisions about eligibility. These are development options, not currently operating website features.
